Uprising In Egypt

Egyptian citizens have began to protest poverty, rampant unemployment, government corruption, and autocratic governance of President Hosni Mubarak. Egypt has yet to see a protest this big since the 1970's. The government responded by blocking their citizens from twitter and facebook. These were the tools used to communicate with other citizens about the protests and rally's. Protests occurred in three major cities in Egypt; Cairo, Alexandria, and Suez. Mohamed ElBaradei, returned to Egypt from Vienna. He was seen as a potential leader if Mubarak should ever lose power. ElBaradei began to lead the protests. When the largest protests were about to take place they got shut down because the government began to shut down all access to internet. They were using facebook and twitter to start some of these rallies.

  1. Wow. I did not know that protests were occurring in several areas in Egypt, including the capital city of Cairo. Also, that Mubarak and the government are not allowing their citizens use the internet. That's amazing that those citizens are utilizing technology to spread the news about what's happening in Egypt and to gather people to protest with them. If Mubarak and the government don't like these protests, then they should pay attention to why these are protesting and act to make Egypt a better nation. For example, the government should create jobs, stop the corruption within the government, and improve the overall lives of its citizens.
